Beat the Blues – Week #25 Round-up

Here’s a highlight of some of the favorite content I came across over the course of last week.

What I am currently reading:-

Subscribed by Tien Tzuo

Tien Tzuo was the former chief strategy officer at Salesforce and currently the Founder, CEO of Zuora – this book is like a “Subscription Economy for dummies” that elucidates at great lengths why that’s where the world is headed and gives 100s of case studies of successful (and relatively unknown) companies across industries, who have made the leap from traditional business models to a subscription model.

 What I am listening to:-

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

A read, that is about 15 years too late, nonetheless amusing. Stephen Fry’s comic voice is just the cherry on top.

Good Reads:-

TikTok Finally Explains How the ‘For You’ Algorithm Works

Often criticized for a lack of transparency, TikTok finally shed some light on one of its most popular features.

The Comfortable Misery Syndrome

Misery is comfortable — it’s why so many people prefer it. Happiness takes effort and courage.

What I’ve been up to:-

Episode #9 – Sahiba Sethi – Bootstrapping HelloMeets, Hustles, and Struggles.

We released a new episode over the weekend as usual at The Takeaway Club™.

It was great to hear from Sahiba, the founder, CEO at HelloMeets, as she recounted her vivid, inspiring journey in the build-up to launching the platform.

A quote I am pondering:-

“One of the criticisms I’ve faced over the years is that I’m not aggressive enough or assertive enough, or maybe somehow, because I’m empathetic, it means I’m weak. I totally rebel against that. I refuse to believe that you cannot be both compassionate and strong.” – Jacinda Arden

Is there a cooler politician at the moment in the world? Time person of the year anyone?
